FN German Championship - two run offs heighten the excitement


Kreuth. For the first time in 16 years the FN German Championship for Juniors, Young Riders and Senior Riders was back in the hands of the NRHA Germany.

The Juniors went first. Here ten riders had qualified in the go round to advance to the finals. Sixteen year old Maya Stach on FENCE THE LINE won gold with a 207 while the silver medal ended up around the neck of Merrit Neben with SMART ART WEASLEY for her score of 205.5. The bronze medal went home with Annalena Munz and KALIZ GOLDEN LICENCE for a score of 204.

Gold in the Young Riders division went almost effortlessly to Michelle Maibaum, who marked a 215.5 on BIG GANGSTER CASH. For Michelle it was already the fourth gold medal. In 2013 she took one home after riding SAILCOMMANDER to a win, in 2014 and 2015 she captured medal and title on CHICS LIL REVOLUTION.

Silver went to John Wisser and STEPPIN JACSON with a score of 209.5.

Two riders tied for third with a score of 208 and according to the rules had to run off for the bronze medal.

After the run off against Maria Arlt on N MAHOGANY WHIZ Vanessa Engel was happy to take the medal home for her run on BIG TIME BUSINESS and a run off score of 210.5

From the 21 competitors in the go round the top 10 advanced to friday's final. The gold medal in the Senior Riders division went to defending champion Elias Ernst on USS N DUNIT owned by Christine Wilinski. The pair had a spectacular run and were rewarded with a score of 221. Not only did Elias win the title again, he did it on the same horse. What an achievement!

WEG bronze medal team member Julia Schumacher got silver on her WEG horse COEURS LITTLE TYKE for owner Hans Georg Holzwarth with a score of 218.

Another tie for third place called again for a run off for the bronze medal between Verena Klein on SMART LIKE CUSTOM (Owner: Angelika Schürmann) and Alexander Ripper on VH A LITTLE BIT (Owner: Christine Kohl). They both initially scored a 217.5. In the run off Alex could improve his performance to a 218.5 but Verena bested him by half a point and took home the bronze medal.
