SSP deposit deadline 31.07.2022
Stallions can be nominated for the respective SSP year from November 11th. to July 31. in the covering year. The SSP and the FNP are breeding support programs of the NRHA Germany. The system is very simple: Every owner who wants to show his horse at the Breeders Futurity or the Breeders Derby has to nominate him. The earlier the horse is nominated, the lower the nomination fee. Offspring of SSP-nominated stallions have an even lower nomination fee. The big advantage to these programs: Once paid in, the nomination is valid for life. This means that if a foal is paid up, it is eligible to compete in the Breeders Futurity as a three- and four-year-old and in the Breeders Derby without restriction from the age of five. This is unique in the world in this form.
Nomination fees flow into the Breeders Show prize money
The Breeders Derby and Breeders Futurity are NRHA Germany's most prominent shows, with top horses from Germany and abroad competing. The tournaments are so extremely popular primarily because of the attractive prize money. Prize money is made up of income from entry fees, from exhibitors, from generous support from NRHA Germany sponsors, and from income from NRHA Germany's Stallion Service Program (SSP) and Foal Nomination Program (FNP). 100% of the nomination fees from the SSP and the FNP go into the prize money of the Breeders Shows. This means that the more horses are entered into the SSP or FNP, the higher the prize money at the Breeders Shows.
FNP or SSP - what is the difference?
The Stallion Service Program is the oldest reining breeding support program in Europe. Originally, only offspring of an SSP-paid stallion were allowed to participate in NRHA Germany Breeders tournaments. In order to significantly expand the base of eligible horses, the Foal Nomination Program (FNP) was introduced. Any horse can be entered in the FNP, regardless of whether the sire is entered in the SSP or not. For stallion owners it is still worthwhile to pay their stallions into the SSP, because the nomination fee for offspring of nominated stallions is significantly lower. The SSP offspring are thus offered the opportunity to participate in two NRHA Top 50 events at unbeatably low nomination fees: the Breeders Derby and the Breeders Futurity.
